Day 1 Gone and Done
Today started early, I mean real early. I left my aunts house at 3:30 am cuz my flight flew outta Dallas at 5:45. I couldn't get my boarding pass from the self check out, found out that my luggage was over weight, and then forgot that my pocket knife was in my carry on after I ckecked my bag through. By the time I get through security my flight was already boarding! Let's just say it was a rough start, but God was there with me through the whole ordeal... Everyone was patient and kind to me and Rebekah (another intern) was on the same flight as I was so she watched my stuff as I dealt with the knife problem. Once we land in Miami, Rebekah and I found this little cafe that served cortados and empanadas!!!! Of course, it wasn't as good as the stuff in Uruguay, but it was still pretty exciting :) As we are about to board, Erin and Steven** (also interns) pop outta nowhere. Come to find out, most of the interns are on our flight. By the end of this last plane ride, I'm ready to finally land in Honduras. We get there, sweat throught customs and find our ride. Before we leave, we grab some McDonalds and then hit the road. I think it took us about 5hrs to finally reach Mission Lazarus. It feels so surreal being here!
Tonight was a little awkward but also very good. All the interns were nice and it's interesting getting to know them. Now all I have to do is remember their names lol. Tonight we ended our hangout time on what I'm gonna call the big rock for the rest of the summer. It was fun to look at the stars and talk and sing. The longer we stayed out there the longer we seemed to be more comfortable with each other. One of the girls pointed out that her goal for this summer was to create a community with each other. All of us agreed that this is important and vital for us to survive and thrive here. If you don't mind lifting my teammates and I in prayer, we would very much appreciate it.
